The Supervisory Channel

April 2002 “Report on Sharing Information between Jurisdictions in connection with the fight against terrorism” indicates that the supervisory channel is the third gateway. This relates to supervision of financial institutions, and can be used to share general information about financial activity, as well as specific information such as regarding Politically Exposes Persons (PEPs). Information obtained this way should only be used for supervisory purposes, not as evidence, and should not be widely shared with government departments.
